People with disabilities do not belong to any one category or label. Similarly, the approach of one size fits all is not effective when engaging with the disability community. The community is diverse and spans across all ethnic and cultural communities. Above all, people with disabilities want to live their lives like everyone else. Many regularly engage in activities, community organizing and civic participation.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Programs and Services Evaluation: Currently NCR is initiating a thorough city-wide assessment of programs, policies and service. The goal is to identify cases which may, intentionally or unintentionally, prohibit participation by individuals with disabilities. Ultimately, from the evaluation, strategies for modifications will be formed into an action plan. This work comes at a pivotal moment as 2015 is the 25th Anniversary of the signing of the ADA.
