Job Announcement: Native American Community Specialist
The City of Minneapolis’ Neighborhood and Community Relations Department (NCR) is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill one (1) Native American Community Specialist position.
Primary Responsibilities: Function as an ambassador of the City of Minneapolis to the Native American population to increase the comfort level among Native Americans with City services offered.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience working in an urban American Indian community, including work with American Indian tribal governments and communities in an urban setting. The following is highly desired: one (1) year of experience in policy or program development, project management or equivalent; one (1) year of experience working in or with local government.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Native American Studies, Communications, Urban Studies, or Public Administration.
Other Requirements: Position requires a flexible work schedule to attend community meetings, etc.; some travel to other parts of the State and the City.
