Public Hearings

1. Karmel Village, LLC (2848 Pleasant Ave S & 2825 Grand Ave S):

Appeal of a portion of the decision of the Planning Commission placing a condition on the approval of a site plan review application requiring the entire addition to be constructed of brick (Ward 6).

Action Taken: Appeal denied

2. Locus Development (1401 Central Ave NE):

Appeal of the Board of Adjustment’s decision to uphold the ruling of the Zoning Administrator that the proposed horizontally hinged doors are substantially similar to exterior security barriers and therefore are prohibited on a proposed non-residential building (Ward 1).

Action Taken: Appeal granted

3. Ordinance Corrections (Zoning Code Text Amendments):

Approve corrections amending Title 20 of the Minneapolis Code of Ordinances relating to Zoning Code, to clarify zoning changes to five properties, consistent with the January 14, 2008, action of the Planning Commission (By Goodman, Wards: 5 & 7).

4. Jacqueline Hamilton (2015 Lowry Ave N):

Approve application to rezone property from the OR1 to the C1 Neighborhood Commercial District (Ward 4).

5. Unity Place (2611 Central Ave NE):

Approve application to rezone property from the C1 to the C2 Neighborhood Corridor Commercial District (Ward 1).

Action Taken: Approved

6. Cedar Riverside Small Area Plan/Comprehensive Plan Amendment:

Adopt the Cedar Riverside Small Area Plan as an articulation of and amendment to the policies found in the City’s comprehensive plan, subject to the changes recommended by the Planning Commission (Ward 2).

Action Taken: Approved

7. Heritage Preservation Commission Appointments:

Approve Council appointments of Deborah Morse-Kahn for a term to run June 2, 2008 - June 1, 2011; Meghan Elliott for a term to run June 2, 2008 - June 1, 2011; and Ginny Lackovic for a term to run January 2, 2008 - January 1, 2011.

Action Taken: Approved

8. Flashing Off-Premises Sign (Zoning Code Text Amendment):

Proposed amendment to Chapter 544 of the Minneapolis Code of Ordinances instituting a public service requirement as a condition of the issuance of any permit for the construction of a flashing off-premises sign.

Recommended Action: Refer to CPED/Planning Division
