1. Minneapolis Planning Commission:

Confirm Mayoral appointments of Lauren Huynh and Lara Norkus-Crampton, for terms to expire 1/31/08.

Requested Action/Action Taken: Public hearing set for 7/27/06 at 9:30 a.m.

Public Hearings

2. Infinite Developers, Inc. (813 21st St E):

Appeal filed by Jerone Mitchell, of Infinite Developers, Inc. from the decision of the Board of Adjustment, denying applications for: a) variance to reduce the east interior side yard setback from 7 to 6 feet; and b) variance to reduce the west interior side yard setback from 7 to 6 feet, both to allow for a new four-dwelling unit, multi-family structure (Ward 6) ( Z&P Action 6/08/06: Postponed until 6/22/06-Public hearing continued).

Action Taken: Approved, with revised floor and site plans presented 6/22/06, showing an accessible entrance to the front of the building.

3. Lyndale Park (5719 Lyndale Ave S):

Approve application to rezone 5719 Lyndale Ave S from C2 to the OR2 District for a new four-story, 57-unit condominium building with two levels of enclosed parking (Ward 11).

Action Taken: Approved.

4. MacPhail Center for Music (501 2nd St S):

Approve proposed vacation of the drainage and utility easement located at 501 2nd St S, subject to a proposed legal description, to construct the MacPhail Center for Music project (Ward 7).

Action Taken: Approved.

5. Communication Towers, Antennas and Base Units (Zoning Code Text Amendment):

Subject matter of an ordinance amending Title 20, Chapter 535 of the Minneapolis Code of Ordinances relating to Zoning Code: Regulations of General Applicability, to authorize the mounting of communication antennas on light poles in the downtown area bounded by the Mississippi River, I-35W, I-94, and I-394/3 rd Ave N (extended to river) (by Schiff).

Requested Action/Action Taken: Referred to CPED/Planning Division.

Discussion Items

6. Steve Leventhal (2409 Colfax Ave S):

Report referred back from City Council recommending denial of the appeal filed by the Lowry Hill East Neighborhood Association from the decision of the Board of Adjustment, which approved an application by Steve Leventhal for a nonconforming use certificate to legalize an existing triplex (Ward 10).

Action Taken: Appeal denied.

7. Zoning Code Text Amendment Work Plan:

Approve Community Planning & Economic Development Minneapolis Zoning Code Text and Map Amendment Work Plan.

Action Taken: Approved, as amended, with items 1 (re Storm Water Management) and 12 (re Antique Dealers) returned to author; and 13 (re Minimum Width Requirements) reprioritized to be between 6 and 7.
