Consent Items

1. License Applications:

Grant Licenses recommended for approval.

Action Taken: Approved.

2. Emergency Response/Pursuit Training:

Extend agreement with Dakota County Technical College for five months, through April 30, 2009, and increase amount by $25,000, for sworn and non-sworn personnel to attend training; and Issue Request for Proposals for driver training facility rental. (Refer to W&M/Budget)

Action Taken: Approved.

3. Animals:

Subject matter of the following ordinances amending Title 4 of the Minneapolis Code of Ordinances relating to Animals and Fowl (amending and adding provisions regarding dangerous animals and cruelty, and prohibiting the provision of false information to Animal Care and Control officers and staff):

a. Chapter 62 relating to In General.

b. Chapter 64 relating to Dogs, Cats, Ferrets, and Rabbits. (Samuels)

Action Taken: Set public hearing for February 11th Meeting.

4. Director’s Fee Schedule:

Ordinance amending Title 5, Chapter 91 of the Minneapolis Code of Ordinances relating to Building Code: Permit Fees, amending the indexing method for those fees covered by the Director’s Fee Schedule. (Samuels)

Action Taken: Set public hearing for February 11th Meeting.

5. Hennepin County Jail Fees:

Execute 2009 agreement with Hennepin County whereby the City will reimburse the County for the actual and legally required cost of detaining inmates arrested by the Police Department at the Hennepin County Adult Detention Facility. (Refer to W&M/Budget)

6. Dangerous Animals:

2008 Summary Report.

Action Taken: Received & Filed.

7. Chapter 249 Property at 1611 22nd Av N:

Execute Restoration Agreement.

Action Taken: Approved rehabilitation.

8. Chapter 249 Property at 2440 16th Av S:

Concur with recommendation of Nuisance Review Panel to demolish property.

Action Taken: Approved demolition.

9. Commercial Building Registration Program:

Ordinance amending Title 9, Chapter 174 of the Minneapolis Code of Ordinances relating to Fire and Police Protection: Minneapolis Fire Department; Fire Prevention Bureau, authorizing and establishing a commercial building registration program (Ostrow; Introduced 10/15/2008)

Action Taken: Postponed to February 11th Meeting.

10. Newsrack Fees:

Consider establishing a fee structure for the general administrative and enforcement activities associated with the terms and provision of Chapter 464 of the Minneapolis Code of Ordinances relating to Newsracks, as provided under Section 464.60. (Referred by City Council 12/12/2008)

Ways & Means/Budget Action 1/5/2009: Held public hearing; referred to the Public Safety & Regulatory Services Committee, requesting a public hearing to be held in March.

Action Taken: Postponed to March 11th Meeting.

11. Vacant Commercial Property Registration:

Subject matter of ordinance amending Title 12, Chapter 249 of Code relating to Housing: Vacant Dwelling or Building, Nuisance Condition, relating to vacant commercial property registration (Goodman; Introduced 8/22/2008).

Action Taken: Postponed to March 11th Meeting.
