Discussion Items

1. University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus Master Plan 2009:

Approve comments to the University of Minnesota regarding their draft Twin Cities Campus Master Plan 2009.

Action Taken: Approved.

2. University of Minnesota - The Alliance:

2007-2009 Progress Report.

Action Taken: Received & filed report; Direction to City's legislative staff to work with Chair Hodges and Council Members Gordon and Hofstede on options for support for the work of The Alliance, for possible consideration at the next IGR meeting.

3. Tax Direction:

Report back on staff directive of 12/9/2008 which read as follows: "IGR staff is directed to prepare a legislative proposal relating to restoring the lower property tax classification for homesteaded single family and multi-family dwelling units and to return to the IGR Committee with a report on the proposal for consideration at its meeting on January 6, 2009. Staff shall further consult with the League of Minnesota Cities and the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities and the legislative delegation, and shall further provide additional information to the committee on the impact of the tax law changes on conversions from homesteaded properties to rental." (Postponed 1/6/2009).

4. Fiscal Year 2010 Federal Agenda for the City of Mpls:

Approve agenda.

Action Taken: Approved.

5. Federal/State/Local Update.
