Continued from the August 7, 2012, Heritage Preservation Commission meeting. Follow up to the Conditions of Approval of the Preservation Plan for the White Grain Elevators and Machine Shop of the Pillsbury A Mill Complex located at 301 Main Street Southeast, 100 3rd Avenue Southeast, 300 2nd Street Southeast, and 400 2nd Street Southeast, located within the St. Anthony Falls Historic District.
Action: The Heritage Preservation Commission approved the Preservation Plan for the White Grain Elevators and Machine Shop of the Pillsbury A Mill Complex located at 301 Main Street Southeast, 100 3rd Avenue Southeast, 300 2nd Street Southeast, and 400 2nd Street Southeast, located within the St. Anthony Falls Historic District.

2.   3045 5th Avenue South, Chase Residence (BZH #27054, Ward 8) (Smoley)
Landmark designation study for the Chase Residence located at 3045 5th Avenue South.
Action: The Heritage Preservation Commission adopted staff findings and approved the landmark designation of the Chase Residence, and directed staff to forward the designation study (dated September 4, 2012) and recommendation to the Zoning and Planning Committee of the City Council with a recommendation to approve the designation of the property at 3045 5th Avenue South.

3.  413-425 Main Street Southeast, St. Anthony Falls Historic District (BZH #27416, Ward: 3) (Hanauer)
Kelly Doran, with Doran Development LLC, has submitted a Certificate of Appropriateness application to allow for a new apartment building at 413-425 Main Street Southeast, Phase II Mill & Main project, located within the St. Anthony Falls Historic District.
Action: Notwithstanding staff recommendation, the item was continued two cycles to the Tuesday, October 23, 2012, Heritage Preservation Commission meeting.

New Business
  1. Discussion held on upcoming HPC retreat scheduled for Monday, November 5, room #333 City Hall. Please forward discussion topics to include on the agenda - one item will be next year’s calendar to include joint meetings between CPC/HPC every other month. (Dvorak)
  2. Last week Commissioner Kelley submitted his resignation to the Heritage Preservation Commission effective immediately, in order to accept a work assignment in Arizona. Serving as an HPC commissioner since 2007, Kevin’s commitment and expertise will be sorely missed and our best wishes follow him.
