Consent

Health Department

1.  Public Health Advisory Committee appointment (17-00278)

Approving the appointment of Raymond Boyle to the Public Health Advisory Committee, Seat 1, for a two-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2017, and ending Dec. 31, 2018.

Action Taken:  Approved.

2.  Grant acceptance from Minnesota Department of Human Services for tobacco compliance (17-00280)

1.   Accepting a grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services in the amount of $4,800 to conduct educational tobacco compliance checks with retailers.

2.   Authorizing an agreement with the State of Minnesota, Department of Human Services, for the grant.

3.   Passage of Resolution appropriating the funds to the Health Department.  (Refer to WM)

Action Taken:  Approved and referred to WM.

3.  Recommendations on use of recycled tire mulch (17-00111)

1.   Receiving and filing presentation on recommendations from the Public Health Advisory Committee and the Community Environmental Advisory Commission on recycled tire mulch use as ground cover on children’s outdoor play areas in Minneapolis.

Action Taken:  Received and filed.

2.   Passage of Resolution prohibiting the use of City funds for the installation or replacement of any facilities or amenities using waste tires and encouraging others to discontinue the use of waste tire materials as ground cover and infill in Minneapolis.

3.   Directing Finance Department staff to work with Minneapolis Public Schools and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to identify the cost of the removal of waste tire mulch from existing facilities; directing Finance staff to identify possible sources of City funding that could be used to help and to bring forward a proposal to the City Council, consistent with City processes, for consideration no later than July 1, 2017.  The proposal should specify whether partner organizations have taken formal action to prohibit further purchase and use of waste tire products.

4.  Minneapolis Commercial Building Energy Benchmarking Policy Fourth Annual Report (17-00272)

Receiving and filing presentation regarding 2015 Energy Benchmarking Report.

Action Taken:  Received and filed.

5.  Youth Violence Prevention Results Indicators (17-00279)

Receiving and filing presentation on Youth Violence Prevention Results Indicators.

Action Taken:  Received and filed.

6.  Skyway Senior Center Update (17-00313)

Receiving and filing update on the future status of the Skyway Senior Center.

Action Taken:  Received and filed.
