Intergovernmental Relations Subcommittee Items

IGR Department
 1.  Trafficking of Minors:
       a) Approve resolution calling on Village Voice Media to cease publication of the adult section of its online classified section,;
       b) Approve amendment to the FY2013 Federal Agenda for the City of Minneapolis by adding language to the Policy Initiatives section regarding support for ending sexual exploitation of youth;
      c)  Approve direction to staff to report back to the Public Safety, Civil Rights & Health Committee by 11/15/2012 relating to work of the Police Department, City Attorney’s office, and other local partners on the issue of child prostitution and sex trafficking of minors for sexual exploitation.

      Action Taken:  Approved.

 2.  Metropolitan Council Sewer Availability Charge (SAC):
      a)  Approve the "Minneapolis position and priorities on SAC";
      b)  Authorize staff to communicate the City's position to Metropolitan Council;
      c)  Approve direction to IGR, Public Works, Regulatory Services and CPED staff to work to implement that position through the SAC Work Group, meetings with Metropolitan Council Members and staff, and, if necessary, through new legislation.

 3.  Federal Minimum Wage:
      Approve amendment to the FY 2013 Federal Agenda for the City of Minneapolis by adding language to the Policy Initiatives section relating to support for the federal legislation raising & indexing the federal minimum wage for hourly workers and the sub-minimum wage for tipped workers.

 4. Target Center Implementation Committee:
     Approve resolution appointing City representatives & related actions (Action Taken 6/14/2012:  Postponed, as amended to substitute the name Tuthill for Colvin Roy for the City appointments; Action Taken 6/28/2012:  Postponed).

      Action Taken:  Approved substitute resolution.
