7. Proposed Charter Amendments:
Discussion of the following summary language to be circulated with a proposed Charter amendment petition, as submitted by “Power by the People”:
“An amendment to the Minneapolis City Charter providing for the election of Chief of Police and City Attorney to a term of four (4) years; creating the office of City Coordinator; providing for the election of City Coordinator for a term of four (4) years; providing for the election of city Mayor to a term of four (4) years; reducing the number of wards from thirteen (13) to seven (7); providing for the election of a Council Member from each ward to serve a two (2) year term; limiting the offices of Mayor and Council Member to two (2) terms; providing for the election of members of the city Planning Commission; providing that the election of the Planning Commission shall be two (2) members per ward, allowing for a total of fourteen (14) members; providing for two (2) year terms for members of the Planning Commission; and limiting membership of the Planning Commission to two (2) terms.”
