Completion of Work
Minneapolis Inspections Division
Section 89.165 Minneapolis Code of Ordinances
Permits obtained for alterations, repairs or remodeling to the exteriors of single family or two family dwellings, including attached or detached garages, must have all work completed within one year from the date of the permit issuance.
The person obtaining the permit is responsible for this completion. Any permittee who violates this due date shall be liable to pay a penalty of $25.00 for each day of violation. Payment of these penalties may be enforced by civil action. The permittee will be guilty of a misdemeanor. Work not completed on the exterior of a one or two family dwelling or the attached or detached garage within one year from the date of the permit issuance shall be considered a nuisance.
This nuisance condition may be abated by the Director of Inspections by completing the work or removing it and restoring the building to its original condition prior to construction or alteration. All costs incurred for city workers or contractors, including administrative costs, equipment costs plus materials, shall be assessed, levied and collected as a special assessment payable in one sum or by up to ten (10) equal annual installments against the property.
