Mayor's Update - July 17, 2003
1. Looking for volunteers Saturday morning for the MOSAIC section of the Aquatennial’s U.S. Band MOSAIC Grande Day Parade.
We’re looking for volunteers to help with the Aquatennial’s U.S. Bank Mosaic Grande Day Parade this Saturday morning, July 19. Volunteers will assist and escort the MOSAIC unit (7 groups of various culturally diverse performers) or carry MOSAIC flags in the parade. This will be the best part of the parade – with entrants ranging from Hmong children Butterfly Dancers to the Harvest Prep Drill Team. I’ll be with the MOSAIC folks for the whole parade.
MOSAIC parade assistants should be at Dunwoody Institute (near the Guthrie and Walker) by 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 19. Flag carriers should be at Dunwoody by 10:30 a.m. Look for the MOSAIC units, numbered 19 to 25 in the parade. The parade begins at 11:00 a.m. and will be finished by 1:00 p.m. Participants are welcome to attend a MOSAIC post-parade reception at the Marquette Hotel, Mississippi Room, 3rd floor for refreshments. Questions? Call Matthew James at 673-5449 at his office, or at 247-6359 on parade day.
2. Looking for input on the city’s 2004 budget.
I spend most of my days in July and the first part of August in budget meetings. I’d like to hear from you about how you think we should be spending our resources. These interactive meetings are opportunities for you to get information on the choices we face as a city, get your questions answered and your voice heard.
Also -- save the date -- I’ll deliver my budget address at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14 in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
