1. R.T. on NBC Nightly News

Here is a link to last night's NBC Nightly News, on which I appeared. Click on "Free Video" under George W. Bush's picture. The story is about the President signing the Tax Cut bill, yet cities, on the front lines of multiple issues, aren't earmarked any portion of the $20 billion dollars in aid that is going to the states. Minneapolis is featured as a City facing a difficult financial situation with no help from the federal government.

2. Step-Up to create summer jobs for teens

This summer is the worst since 1965 for summer jobs for teens. I've been working with the Youth Coordinating Board and others to find productive outlets for teens this summer through Step-Up. This new program gives local employers and businesses the opportunity to encourage the positive growth of young people in the Minneapolis area by connecting youth to positive activities such as, jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities, recreational opportunities and sports. Employers and individuals that don't have the resources to offer students jobs can assist the program through a tax-deductible donation of up to $2,400, providing Step Up with funds to support additional youth internship programs.

Interested businesses, donors and teens can call What’s Up? At (612) 399-9999 for more information.
