Mayor Betsy Hodges: Mayor Castro will be “visionary” HUD secretary
May 23, 2014 (MINNEAPOLIS) — In response to President Barack Obama’s nominations of San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro for U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and Shaun Donovan for Office of Management and Budget, Mayor Betsy Hodges released the following statement:
“In San Antonio, Mayor Castro’s comprehensive vision for urban vitality — including workforce development, public health, sustainability and education, with a notable focus on high-quality early childhood experiences — is already reaping remarkable results. I am very pleased that President Obama has nominated him to lead HUD, where I am confident he will be a visionary secretary and strong partner.
“Shaun Donovan led HUD through the Great Recession with a relentless focus on partnering with cities to implement progressive policy. All Americans will benefit from his upcoming service at the Office of Management and Budget.”
