MFD Arson Logo Fire Investigations

The Fire Investigation Unit of the Minneapolis Fire Department operates jointly with the Arson Investigation Unit of the Minneapolis Police Department.

The fire investigators work 24 or 48 hour shifts. They respond to all fires with significant losses, as well as any incidents where the cause of the fire is of suspicious or incendiary origin.

If the department determines that arson is the cause of a fire, the Minneapolis Police Department conducts the ensuing investigation.
