Special Events Permitting

Each year hundreds of special events, such as block parties, festivals, parades or races, are held in the Minneapolis.

To ensure the safety of residents and the enjoyment of event-goers, many of these events require closing or partially blocking streets, traffic control services or special permits and licenses for various activities.

Event organizers should contact the appropriate City resource to complete and file applications for any permits or licenses required. Fees will vary depending on the activity you are planning and the degree of regulation applied to those activities.

The time it takes to obtain required permits also varies. Organizers should contact the City early in their planning process to make sure they will have everything in order in plenty of time to host a safe, enjoyable event.
