Call for Public Artists
New Public Service Building
The new Public Service Building will be at 501 Fourth Ave. S. and co-locate City employees and services currently in several sites throughout downtown Minneapolis and serve the City’s broad range of constituents.The design team for the the building includes the Minneapolis firm MSR (Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle) working in partnership with the international firm Henning Larsen.
These two opportunities are the third and fourth of multiple calls for artists for the New Public Service Building. Future calls could include drinking fountains, a handrail and media works.
The City of Minneapolis invites experienced artists to apply to design narrative murals – vinyl on glass - for the New Public Service Building. Artists are responsible for engaging with community – public employees and/or community members –and will not be fabricating the final artwork. Up to seven artists will be selected for this opportunity.

Optional Local Informational Meeting for the Narrative Murals: Tuesday, November 13, 4:00 p.m. (CST), Downtown Minneapolis - Central Library, Room 402
The City of Minneapolis invites experienced artists to apply to design and fabricate ceilings in the elevator lobbies that lead to the reception area, publicly-accessible conference rooms, and entrances to employee spaces on eight of ten floors. This two-phase process includes a contracted design phase and a contracted construction/fabrication phase. Up to eight artists will be selected for this opportunity.
