The deadline for submission of proposals has passed. Four developers submitted responses to the RFP. At its meeting on February 24, 2005 the Task Force discussed the proposals and directed staff to formulate a process to engage the community, identify additional public funding sources, and report on other development projects in the Walker Library area. The Task Force is expected to meet in early April 2005 to review the proposed process and plan next steps, which could include approaching the City Council and Library Board to seek concurrence on the process and asking for a time extension to complete the work detailed in the July 2004 Walker Library Resolution.
All meetings will be held in the Walker Community Library meeting room, 2880 Hennepin Ave.
Linked below are the four proposals that the Minneapolis Library Board and the City of Minneapolis have received in response to the RFP for the redevelopment of the Walker Library, 2880 Hennepin Ave. S.

RFP Summary and Exhibits
(For information purposes only – deadline has passed – see above for proposals submitted in response to RFP):
The Minneapolis Public Library (MPL) and the City of Minneapolis are considering proposals for the redevelopment of the Walker Library site for mixed-use transit-oriented proposals that will create a long-term vision for this corner with a greatly enhanced landmark Walker library facility that accommodates improved library services for the community.
Development objectives call for a design that will establish a library with a strong and prominent presence, be consistent with current zoning, maximize operational efficiency of the library functions, provide below grade parking and allow creative mixed-use development options.
