The City of Minneapolis is seeking an experienced developer to lead a long-term effort to redevelop the Bassett Creek Valley. Public property totaling approximately 56 acres is currently used for the city’s Impound Lot and Linden Yards (public works operations).
The selected developer will have exclusive rights to negotiate a purchase of this property for up to five years conditioned on annual demonstrated progress, with a renewal option. The actual sale price of the land will be negotiated later, following an appraisal when the developer is prepared to proceed. It is anticipated that the City of Minneapolis will retain ownership while requesting environmental remediation clean-up grants and assistance to address poor soil conditions. The City will sell the property subject to a 12-month notice to vacate for Linden Yards and a 24-month notice to vacate for the Impound Lot. The City is intending to sell both sites to the same developer.
The City is requesting detailed qualifications of the firm as well as information regarding initial concept plans for development.
Proposals are due by 4 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2007.
