Penn-Lowry Crossings

Penn-Lowry Crossing is a new mixed-use development on the southeast corner of Penn and Lowry avenues North in the Jordan neighborhood in Minneapolis.

The development includes three building for a total of 47,000 square feet of retail and office space.

Features include a brick exterior with stucco accents, extensive landscaping, and brick detailing, well-lighted parking, bicycle parking facilities and pavers on the plaza.

Tenants include Aldi Grocery Store, Family Dollar, Subway, a Laundromat, and Resources, Inc.

Aldi Grocery Store is one on the world’s largest grocery chains. Aldi is a full service store with produce, meat, dairy, and dry goods. Aldi is open every day of the week.

As a component of this redevelopment the existing Family Dollar building received a face lift. Family Dollar will continue to offer retail good to the community in a location it has had for more that 10 years at the south end of the development

Resource Inc. relocated its Employment Action Center to the second floor of the development. Resource Inc. offers a number of services at the EAC through the Minneapolis Employment and Training Program. These services include employment, training and job placement services to low-income youth and adults and dislocated workers. In addition, Resource, Inc. provides a wide array of career planning, training, employment, youth development, parenting, financial and other life skill-building services.

Coming in 2009, Wellington Management, Inc. will construct the final component of Penn-Lowry Crossings. A new building at the corner of Oliver and Lowry avenues will be home to a new financial institution or additional retail space.

This new development is a result of a City of Minneapolis Request for Proposal in 2005.
