Humboldt Greenway

Vicinity of 4600-5900 Humboldt Avenue North

Humboldt Greenway is a partnership between Hennepin County and the City of Minneapolis to construct a new greenway and housing along Humboldt Avenue North in the Shingle Creek and Lind-Bohanon neighborhoods.
 

Construction of phase I of the greenway project is complete and includes a new senior apartment complex, 58 single-family homes and 36 town homes. Phase II has been platted and developed for additional single-family, townhome and rowhome units. A limited number of single family and townhome new construction models are available for viewing and purchase.
 

Single-family exteriors include the use of brick, stone, stucco and low-maintenance siding, complemented by traditional window and trim details. All homes include double-car garages, sodded yards with fencing and trees, shrubs and flowers. Interiors feature sunny eat-in kitchens with great rooms, master bedroom suites with baths, large closets, energy-efficient construction, basements and many optional finishes.
 

A ten-foot wide, mixed-use trail on the north side of 49th Avenue serves as a connector to John C. Bohanon Park and the North Mississippi Regional Park and Interpretive Center.
 

New construction activity in the Phase II area ceased in 2008 due to the economic recession and poorly performing for-sale housing market. Hennepin County and the City of Minneapolis are continuing to work together to reacquire the vacant Humboldt Greenway parcels for the purpose of resuming construction activity with a qualified master developer or builder in the future.
