Franklin-Portland Gateway

The Franklin-Portland Gateway is a multi-phased development at the intersection of Franklin and Portland that will add quality, mixed-income housing and up to 20,000 feet of neighborhood-scale commercial space in Phillips. The Gateway project is an addition to Hope Community’s existing Hope Campus. The addition will include both rental and homeownership housing for a variety of income levels and household sizes. The project is developed to be a family-, pedestrian-, and transit-friendly, green-oriented place to live and work.

Phase I (southeast corner of Portland and Franklin) - consists of the Children’s Village Center, a four-story multi-use, mixed-income community and education space, and Hope Community Court, which is located within the Hope Block. The project includes affordable rental units and demonstrates a diverse mix of building types, unit sizes an prices. Children’s Village Center offers 30 affordable rental units and commercial and gathering space at street level. Hope Community Court is a cluster development that features six affordable rental units and four ownership units. The structure of the five buildings in Hope Community range from side-by-side townhouses in a traditional row-house style to single-family dwellings replicating a traditional carriage house.

Phase II (southwest corner of Portland and Franklin)– The Jourdain, a mixed-income, mixed-use project, includes 41 units of townhome-type studios and 2- and three-bedroom units, as well as 4,000 square feet of commercial space that will house a mini-market grocery store and office space. Residential parking space is provided via a below-grade parking garage preserving much of the site for shared green space, a playground and landscaping. The Jourdain is completed and now occupied.

Phase III (northeast corner of Portland and Franklin) – the Wellstone, will include 54 units of mixed-income rental housing, 13 units of homeownership housing and 7,112 square feet of commercial space (4,441 square feet of restaurant space and 2,671 square feet of community space for tenant use.
