Two plans related to the proposed Wellstone project, a mixed income townhome-style rental and commercial project, are available for review and comment. The plans establish a new housing TIF district--the Wellstone TIF District--in the Ventura Village Neighborhood and Phillips Community in Ward 6 of South Minneapolis at the northeast corner of Franklin and Portland Avenues.
The Wellstone is the third phase of the Franklin-Portland Gateway development , a collaborative partnership between Hope Community, Inc. and Community Housing Trust (CCHT) to redevelop the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Portland Avenue.
The City Council is expected to consider the proposed plans on Friday, April 27, 2007 following a public hearing at the Community Development Committee on Tuesday, April 17, 2007.
