The City of Minneapolis has issued an amended RFP for the Nicollet Hotel Block and is hosting a pre-proposal conference about the project Aug. 19, 2005, 9 a.m.-11 a.m., in the Crown Roller Mill Building, 105 Fifth Ave. S., Suite 200, conference room 3.
The amended RFP provides information on the project that was not previously available including updates on the City and Federal Transit Administration requirements, details on the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program, and the enactment of legislation that provides a public bidding exemption for transit facilities.
The Nicollet Hotel Block (bounded by Third Street, Washington and Hennepin avenues and Nicollet Mall) is the former site of a historic hotel and is considered the gateway to Downtown Minneapolis. Development objectives call for a mixed-use transit oriented project that will include a publicly funded underground transit terminal, up to 300 units of rental or ownership housing, structured residential parking, and convenience retail. Development proposals are due Sept. 15, 2005.
