Comments wanted about housing programs
Deadline: March 31, 2006
The Minneapolis Department of Community Planning and Economic Development is seeking comments on two of its housing development programs. Requests for proposals for both programs are expected in the spring. All comments are needed by March 31, 2006.
Low Income Housing Tax Credits
Through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program (LIHTC), CPED allocated tax credits for qualified residential rental properties in Minneapolis. The program offers a reduction in the tax liability to owners and investors in eligible low-income new construction, rehabilitation and/or acquisition of existing rental buildings.

Affordable Ownership Housing Program
CPED is responsible for administering the Affordable Ownership Housing Program for the City of Minneapolis, which assists developers in the rehabilitation and construction of new single-family, duplex or multi-unit housing for owner occupancy, including limited equity cooperatives. Program funds are used to assist housing developments with long-term or perpetual affordability mechanisms.
