Community input needed on concepts for Central Avenue
The City of Minneapolis and the Central Avenue Small Area Plan Steering Committee are hosting a meeting about the Central Avenue Plan Update Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, 9 a.m.-noon at the Salvation Army, 2727 Central Ave. NE.
The community is invited to discuss topics including housing density, neighborhood retail, affordability, parking and building height. Presentations will include how to increase employment opportunities, strengthen businesses, create healthy transitions from Central Avenue to the neighborhoods, and leverage the arts.
A steering group began meeting in March 2007 to update the Citys 1997 "Making Central Avenue Great" plan. The goal is to bring the updated plan to the City for approval and incorporation into the City’s comprehensive plan for 2008.
Another public meeting about the Central Avenue Plan Update is scheduled for Feb. 7, 2008.
