Plan for 38 th and Chicago area available for review

The City of Minneapolis is seeking comments about the 38th Street and Chicago Avenue Small Area/Corridor Framework Plan , which aims to support the ongoing improvement and revitalization of the area by proposing specific policies and strategies to guide its evolution.
The plan, which has been in the making for several years, was developed through a cooperative effort by the four neighborhood groups surrounding 38th and Chicago, as well as the 38th and Chicago Business Association. Community Design Group led the planning process and produced the plan document.
Topics include land use, housing, mobility and transportation, economic development, the arts, community health, public safety, public realm, and urban design guidelines.
The plan is available for review online. Hardcopies are available for review at the following locations:
- Hosmer Library, 347 East 36th Street;
- Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall;
- Minneapolis City Hall, 350 South Fifth Street, Room 210;
- Powderhorn Park, 3400 15th Avenue South;
- Phelps Park, 701 East 39th Street; and
- Central Gym, 3400 Fourth Avenue South.
The City will be accepting comments on the plan through Dec. 31, 2007. All comments received will become part of the public record and will be included in a report to the City Planning Commission for their consideration at a public hearing tentatively scheduled for Jan. 14, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. in City Hall Room 317.
