New Longfellow development gets 26-foot tall bronze torch sculpture

A 26-foot tall bronze cast sculpture of a torch emitting a gold flame was installed at West River Commons, a new mixed-use development in the Longfellow neighborhood on Dec. 1.

The sculpture, created by Longfellow neighborhood resident Andrea Mykleburst, and its installation was in collaboration with the City of Minneapolis’ Art in Public Places Program, the Longfellow Community Council, Lander Group (West River Commons developer), and Close Landscape Architects. The City and community each provided $25,000 to commission the work.
