1101 West Broadway opens with a community celebration

Due to the tragedy of the bridge collapse, this public event celebrating the return of 1101 West Broadway to North Minneapolis has been postponed and will be rescheduled.

There will be a community event to celebrate the opening of 1101 West Broadway Friday, Aug. 3, 4-6 p.m. The century-old building at the corner of Emerson and West Broadway is now home to Emerge Community Development, City-County Federal Credit Union, and the Bean Scene Too coffee shop.

Mayor R.T. Rybak and City Council Member Don Samuels will lead the program. Gospel Soul Productions and Lundstrum Center for the Performing Arts will provide entertainment. Each of the tenants will host an open house showcasing the award-winning space and providing information on the spectrum of services they offer.

Emerge connects low-income and/or disenfranchised residents with employment, training, and housing opportunities and supports long-term success. City-County Federal Credit Union is Minnesota’s seventh largest and one of its fastest growing credit unions and provides a full spectrum of financial and financial education services. The Bean Scene, a north Minneapolis coffee shop, opens its second shop (Bean Scene Too) on the ground floor.

The project at 1101 West Broadway was recently recognized with Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal’s 2006 Best in Real Estate Award in the Redevelopment/Extensive Renovation (Small, Commercial) category.
