Program History

From 2010-2012, in partnership with the Ramsey County Workforce Solutions, the City of Minneapolis trained 586 residents of Minneapolis and St. Paul for careers in construction/deconstruction, manufacturing, building systems management, and renewable energy with a focus on solar power. Of those trained, 487 residents earned industry recognized credentials, and 420 trainees were placed in unsubsidized employment. Of those placed, 80% secured jobs in training-related employment.

RENEW earned accolades for this work including a Silver Award for Excellence in Economic Development from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and was named one of the top three federally-funded Pathway Out of Poverty programs nationally, providing training and employment resources to Twin Cities residents seeking opportunities to advance their careers.
