Early Approval and Publication

Purpose

When approval of a Council action is needed before the standard effective date, early approval by the Mayor may be requested.

Note: This is a request for early approval by the Mayor. Early signing requests are at the discretion of the Mayor and may not always be signed.

Process

Council Members, department heads, or their designees send a memorandum to the Mayor and the Council Committee Coordinators requesting early signature by submitting the "Early Approval and Publication of a Council Action" form available on City Talk.

Deadlines

Requests must be received by the Mayor and the Council Committee Coordinator no later than three (3) full days before the Council meeting.

Effective Dates

All Council actions become effective upon publication.

Early Publication

Normally occurs the Tuesday following a Friday City Council meeting. If Monday is a holiday, publication will be on Wednesday. Finance and Commerce does not publish on Monday.
