Maintains all employee personnel records, historical archives and customized computer program platforms. Employment, Development and DiversityMiriam Vaughn-Lee, Division Director, 673-2459Affirmative Action/Recruiting: Miriam Vaughn-Lee Assists departments to increase the representation and retention of women, people of color, and people with disabilities in the work force. Helps departments meet their affirmative action objectives; reviews job announcements to ensure they meet City diversity objectives; provides information on goal progress; and provides training, consulting and focused recruitment. HR Services/HR Generalists: Carol Rogers, Manager, 673-5116 Provides City departments with qualified candidates to fill vacant positions. Helps recruit, select, and certify candidates so the City can hire, promote, and retain a highly qualified, culturally diverse work force. Determines seniority, layoff and bumping sequences and ensures compliance with Civil Service Commission Rules and Charter provisions. The Human Resource Generalists implement Human Resource initiatives throughout the organization and act as internal consultants. Work closely with department managers to provide solutions to human resource issues while ensuring consistent application of human resource policies and practices. Technical Computer Training: Diane Gross, 673-3639 Provides standard software application and City-specific systems training to City employees to improve their use of available technology. Quarterly class schedules include such offerings as: Word, Excel, Access, Internet Explorer, Outlook, and MS Project. Customized application training is also available based on specific departmental needs. Class schedules, information, and registration are available through HRIS-Learning and Development. Training and Development: Lea Bittner-Eddy, 673-3312 Provides learning opportunities to employees on a City-wide basis that develop the skills needed to maximize individual performance, meet City goals, and carry out the diverse roles of serving the public in Minneapolis. We deliver new employee orientation, customer service training, technical and interpersonal skill building, policy training, managerial and leadership development, and consulting services for individualized projects. Workforce Planning: Human Resources Generalists Assist departments in forecasting its human capital needs, identifying "gaps" in the present workforce, and developing strategies to select, retain, and develop the workforce that is needed. Employee ServicesTim Giles, Division Director, 673-3342Benefits and Wellness: Joyce Traver, 673-3120 Responsible for developing, designing and administering benefits and wellness programs. Classification: Mike Hebner, 673-3119 Ensures the City classification system remains relevant and responsive to the changing nature of work. Maintains descriptions of all jobs, classifies new positions, and evaluates existing positions to ensure proper assignment of value for job-related contributions. Determines minimum requirements, qualifications and grade levels for all job classifications. Complaint Management: Steve Kennedy, 673-2436 Investigates and attempts to resolve complaints of discrimination and conflicts in the workplace. Labor Relations: Tim Giles, 673-3342 and Perry Palin, 673-3521 Provides City departments with contract negotiations and administration, grievance resolution and other labor-management initiatives. Compensation Administration: Pam Nelms, 673-3344 Provide contract and salary analysis and administration.
