Project survey

Public Works has created the following survey for residents to share their experience and priorities in the project corridor. The survey will help inform the creation of the initial concept design for the project and will be open until February 29, 2020.

Project Survey

Background

In 2021, the Minneapolis Public Works Department will enhance the bike connections between several neighborhoods in South Minneapolis and downtown. The project will improve existing bikeways on 1st Avenue South and/or Blaisdell Avenue. Enhancements could include curb protected bikeways, two-way bikeways, and/or intersection improvements.

The design of the Whittier/Lyndale Bikeway will help inform the layouts for upcoming street reconstruction and rehabilitation projects on 1st Ave S and Blaisdell Ave that are planned over the next five years.

Goals

The goal of the project is to create a low-stress bikeway that meets the City's All Ages and Abilities standard. Such a bikeway will:

The project will also look for opportunities to improve pedestrian safety along the corridors.
