North Commons Sidewalk Gap Rendering Before

Currently, some streets in the area around North Commons Park do not have sidewalks.

North Commons Sidewalk Gap Rendering After

After the new sidewalk is added, there will be more places for pedestrians to travel.

 Project Background

Public Works has identified a sidewalk gap in North Commons Park in the Near North and Willard-Hay neighborhoods as part of the Sidewalk Gap Program.  The objective of this program is to fill gaps in the sidewalk network as identified in the Minneapolis Pedestrian Master Plan. A connected and continuous sidewalk network better accommodates the needs of all pedestrians.

Project Scope

The City of Minneapolis will evaluate sidewalk gaps at the following locations:

The proposed project is scheduled to occur over the course of the 2019 construction season. The scope of the project will include constructing sidewalks with ADA ramps at impacted intersections.

There will be no special assessments to property owners as a part of this project.

Project Schedule and Public Input

Public Works introduced the project in 2018 and is now seeking feedback on the Concept Layout. The project is anticipated to be constructed during the 2019 construction season.
