CIP Status Stage 1: Planning

 

 Final preliminary concept
The project team has developed a final recommended concept that will be brought to City Council Transportation & Public Works Committee on March 27th for consideration for layout approval.

Final preliminary concept
The project team has developed an updated preliminary concept, which takes into consideration input from the previous meetings with various stakeholders. The concept will be brought to the City's Heritage Preservation Commission on December 12th 2017 for further feedback. An final project planning meeting will be held on December 18th 2017 to discuss this  concept. Feedback from these two meetings will be considered in developing the final staff recommended concept to be considered for City Council approval in early 2018.

Project Details

Project Description:
The proposed project will reconstruct portions of 3rd St N, 5th Ave N, 7th Ave N, 8th Ave N and 9th Ave N adding up to approximately 0.8 miles of street within the North Loop neighborhood. The project is a reconstruction project involving the entire right-of-way and will include new sidewalks, ramps, pavement, curb and gutter, and utility improvements. The project will also include signal improvements, new signage, and new pavement markings, as needed.

3rd St N (5th Ave N - 10th Ave N), 5th Ave N (5th St N - Washington Ave N), 7th Ave N (4th St N - Washington Ave N), 8th Ave N (3rd St N - Washington Ave N), 9th Ave N (3rd St N - Washington Ave N)


Construction Date:
This project is scheduled to be constructed in 2019.

The City of Minneapolis Department of Public Works will be holding a series of public meetings to gather feedback regarding the proposed project. The first two public meetings will be held at the dates below, with a third final public meeting scheduled tentatively for November 2017.

3/15/18 A final recommended project layout has been uploaded to the website.

12/18/17 The final project planning meeting took place on 12/18/17. Slides from the meeting are posted on the project website.

12/12/17 The project was presented to the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission as an informational item.

12/1/17 The final project planning meeting will take place on 12/18/17 at 5:30 pm at Minneapolis Central Library

12/1/17 A final preliminary concept has been developed and has been uploaded to the website

8/29/17 The second project open house will be held on 8/29 from 5:30pm - 7:00pm at Minneapolis Central Library

8/28/17 The introductory project survey has been closed

8/2/17 Project staff attended a Minneapolis Advisory Committee on People with Disabilities (MACOPD) meeting to introduce the project

7/24/17 The introductory open house was held at Minneapolis Central Library

7/26/17 Project staff attended a North Loop Neighborhood Association meeting to introduce the project

7/20/17 Project staff attended the City's Pedestrian Advisory Committee to introduce the project

7/18/17 Project staff attended a 2020 Partners meeting to introduce the project

7/18/17 Project staff attend the City's Bicycle Advisory Committee to introduce the project

7/11/17 Meeting notifications for the upcoming open houses have been sent to property addresses in the area.
