VanWhite Bridge & Paving
Project Type:
This is new construction of bridges over BNSF Railroad and Bassett Creek and roadway construction from I394 and Dunwoody Blvd to Fremont Ave & 2nd Ave N.
Project Limits:
Van White Paving and Bridge is located west of downtown, west of I-94 and north of I-394. It extends south from the intersection of Van White Memorial Parkway and Fremont Ave N and connects to Dunwoody Boulevard under I-394.
Construction Start Date:
Construction began in April, 2012.
Length of Construction:
The construction will run through 2012 with final completion by fall 2013.
Traffic Impact:
Traffic will be slightly impacted at the 394 on ramp at Dunwoody Blvd. This work is scheduled to begin in July, 2012. This project is mostly new construction so impacts will be minimal.

June 11, 2012:
- Excavation and disposal of contaminated soils from the roadway area is mostly complete.
- The abutments for the new bridge over Bassett Creek are completed and beams are being installed this week.
- Work continues on the bridge over BNSF, pilings are being installed at Pier 4 and the north abutments. Piers 2 & 3 are being formed and will be poured with concrete soon. Pier 1 is complete and the south abutment is being constructed as well. In coming weeks the contractor will begin work on installing falsework to construct the new bridge on.
