Board of Appeal & Equalization
The Board of Appeal and Equalization is created annually by the City Council’s Standing Committee on Taxes, and is responsible for arbitrating disputes about property classification or market value assessments between property owners and the City. The Board has the authority to recommend decreasing, sustaining, or increasing the estimated market value of a property to the City Council.
Vacancy: There is currently one vacancy for a licensed Minneapolis Appraiser. The term is from April 28, 2014 to May 2, 2014.
Requirements: A licensed Minneapolis Appraiser. Applicants must be residents of the City of Minneapolis.

Selection Process: Applications are forwarded from the City Clerk to the Chair of the Taxes Committee for his/her consideration and recommendation to the full City Council.
Additional Information: Duties of Board Members require attending training through the Department of Revenue which would take place in the Fall of 2013. This training is held on an evening night and lasts for a couple hours.
The Compensation for serving as a Member on the Board of Appeal and Equalization is $75 for each half day. A half day is from 9 am to Noon, or 1pm to 4:30pm.
