Minneapolis Advisory Committee on People with Disabilities
The Minneapolis Advisory Committee on People with Disabilities was created by resolution 76R-009 on 1/19/1976 to expand opportunities for all children and adults with disabilities throughout Minneapolis, without regard to disability or other protected class status, work to improve life’s opportunities by resolving conflicts involving persons with disabilities and protect their right to fully participate in society.
Deadline: Open until filled; application review process will begin on Friday, April 26, 2013.

Applicants must be knowledgeable or have expertise in one of the following area: accessible housing, transportation, employment, or program and architectural accessibility. Members should recognize that people with disabilities/handicaps have unique concerns regarding their daily activities.

Selection Process:
Applications are forwarded from the City Clerk to the Committee, Mayor, and City Council President Staff for their consideration. Applications are reviewed by the Public Safety, Civil Rights and Health Committee for recommendation to the full Council.
Additional Information:
Meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., in Room 132 City Hall. There is no compensation for attending meetings. The committee meeting locations are accessible to persons with disabilities.
The committee is comprised of 15 members appointed by the Mayor with confirmation by the City Council. Applicants must be knowledgeable or have expertise in one of the following area: accessible housing, transportation, employment, or program and architectural accessibility. Members serve two-year terms which are staggered so that half of the members are appointed every year. Four unexcused absences during a calendar year will be cause for dismissal.
