Bicycle Friendly Community Award

As of May 2011, Minneapolis has attained gold level status with the League of American Bicyclists. The League, which is dedicated to promoting bicycling for fun, fitness, and transportation, gives awards to cities that have made impressive, measurable efforts to integrate bicyclists into the community.

Minneapolis originally applied for Bicycle Friendly Community recognition in 2008 and received a silver level rating. The 2011 upgrade (pdf) comes after the submittal of a lengthy application detailing the bicycling accomplishments of our community.
