Detour Update: Bridge 9, University Ave NE Trail, Van White Trail & Loring Bikeway

Several trail maintenance projects will be occurring through July and August that will result in temporary trail closures. The closures are needed to perform joint sealing and sand sealing work. The maintenance work is expected to help preserve the trail surface for 10-12 years.

For the following locations, paths will remain open and accessible for most of the listed closure periods. Expect most closures to occur between 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Bridge 9

Bridge 9 over the Mississippi River will experience temporary closures on July 12 and again from July 16-19, 2012. The recommended detour will follow East River Rd, SE 4th St/SE University Ave, 10th Ave Bridge, 19th Ave S, 2nd St, 1st St S, and 20th Ave S.

University Ave NE Trail

The University Ave NE Trail from St. Anthony Pkwy to NE 27th Ave will experience temporary closures from July 16-19, 2012. The recommended detour will follow St. Anthony Pkwy to NE Columbia Ave, 31st Ave NE, NE California St and NE 27th Ave.

Van White Trail Trail

The Van White Trail from 12th Ave N to Girard Terrace will experience temporary closures from July 16-19, 2012. The recommended detour will follow Van White Memorial Blvd N.

Loring Bikeway

The Loring Bikeway between Groveland Ave and Bryant Ave S/Aldrich Ave S will experience temporary closures from July 16-19, 2012. The recommended detour will follow Aldrich Ave S, W Franklin Ave and Lyndale Ave S. Between I-94 and Groveland Ave use the sidewalk adjacent to the path. Southbound bicyclists, please walk bikes on sidewalk between I-94 and W Franklin Ave.

Future Work

Expect additional maintenance work beginning the week of July 23, 2012 at the following locations: Loring Bikeway between Oak Grove St and Groveland Ave, Cedar Lake Trail between Royalston Ave and Hwy 100, Kenilworth Trail between Cedar Lake Trail and Midtown Greenway, and Midtown Greenway between France Ave S and West River Pkwy.
