New online pet licensing – now easier than ever.

License your pet or renew pet licenses online! Or, call 311 or (612) 673-3000 to license pets over the phone.

For those renewing a pet license, you’ll soon receive a Renewal Notice Postcard. This postcard will provide renewal numbers to speed up and simplify the online renewal process.

Sign up to receive an e-mail updates from Animal Care and Control.

Off leash dog park permits are not available through online pet licensing but can be obtained through the Park and Recreation Board.

Service Hours

Animal Care & Control responds to calls for service during these hours:

Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Saturday - Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Call 311 to report a problem or request a service
• Call 911 to report bites and aggressive animals

Minneapolis Animal Shelter

The shelter is open 6 days a week at these times:

Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, Closed

The shelter is closed on City holidays.
